Zac Upchurch


Zac leads the Talent Strategy Group, overseeing its consulting, strategy, research, and finance functions. He consults with the boards and executive teams of the world’s most advanced organizations on human resources and talent management. Zac’s work focuses on three organizational types: founder-led organizations, private equity firms and their portfolio companies, and large, complex organizations.

Zac speaks and writes on topics that advance the field of human resources. He is the author of CHRO Trends, a widely cited annual study on trends in the chief human resources officer role. He is described as an HR visionary for his “People As Strategy” approach, which positions an organization’s people as a central driver of strategic success.

Prior to the Talent Strategy Group, Zac led strategy and growth for a global organization. He was also a political consultant for national, state, and local campaigns. His work resulted in an award from the state of Arizona for outstanding service.

Zac graduated summa cum laude in three years from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. At Arizona State University, he was nominated for the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award and has since been nominated for the ASU Alumni 100 Award.
