Laura Butcher


Laura combines strong business acumen with expertise in talent management, learning, and change leadership to serve organizations as they create strategy, build leadership capability, and execute change. Laura excels in working collaboratively and influentially with leadership teams to design and deliver solutions that align people investments with business strategy and enable growth.

Prior to joining UNC Executive Development, Laura led her own consulting practice for close to 20 years. Her clients have spanned multiple sectors, including heavy industry, financial services, healthcare, and technology. She has a broad range of experience working with clients in manufacturing, sales, service, operations, and staff organizations in the US as well as countries throughout Asia and Europe. In addition, Laura’s corporate experience includes human resources roles with General Electric, Bank of America, and Delta Air Lines, where she served as Delta’s Human Resources Director for Europe in its regional headquarters in London, UK.

Laura is the co-author of Hire the Best: Find, Interview, and Select Top Talent, released in 2022. In her book she shares insights, tools, and techniques as a corporate leader, advisor, and coach.

She received her MBA from Vanderbilt University and her BA in Economics from UNC-Chapel Hill. Laura loves everything UNC. Her heart was won in Chapel Hill where she met her husband as freshmen teammates and then varsity lettermen UNC fencers.
